Argentinian Culture in Brno

3/6/2025 – English |

What does it mean to be Argentinian?

It means feeling a deep, overwhelming pride in the colors of our flag, our customs, our music, our way of speaking and the way we behave. Being Argentinian means feeling passionate, enthusiastic, overly friendly, proud, extremely talkative, supportive.

And when you are an Argentinian living abroad, all these traits often get even stronger, as if living far away from home intensifies our love and passion about the things we left behind and make us want to share them with everyone around.

That’s exactly what happened this year in Brno when a group of Argentinians felt the need to showcase their culture to the city. Little by little, they started to get support from different entities, from Brusinka, which offered the venue to host the event, to Argentinian and local business who supported them providing the food for the event or helping them spread the word. Every bit of help felt like a huge step into what they wanted to create: building a strong community where every Argentinian could meet, connect and share their interests and passion with people from other communities and locals.

On the day of the event, their dreams came true as they could witness how much engaged everyone from the community was. From fellow South Americans to curious Czechs, everyone could get a taste of what represents the Argentinian culture, and while not everything went exactly as planned, they truly believe that their goal was achieved and the joint efforts paid off.

Now, with hindsite, we can all clearly see the areas for improvement, but, more importantly, we can also see all the new ideas that fellow Argentinians are coming up with for the future, as if this event planted a seed that is starting to grow slowly but steadily.

Now, ten days later, we can finally see the whole picture of everything that happened: we laid the foundations for something bigger. And with this motivation and good energy, the proud Argentinians who live in Brno are now even prouder to share their roots with the world.
